Most people know Bertha Conton as Aunty Bertha or Mrs. Conton, but I know her as Nana. Some of my earliest memories are of her teaching me to read, or me sitting in her room and eating her beloved Werther’s caramels. She has remained a steadfast figure in my life, and it is hard to imagine what home will be like without her. But I do know that she is constantly guiding me, whether it is when I’m pursuing my love of the arts and writing that I got from her, or baking for friends and family as she loved to do. Forever and always, I hope to celebrate her in all that I do.
